Custom Made Curtains in Sydney
Material World has been making curtains for Sydney homes for more than 25 years. Everything we make is measured, made and installed for your windows specifically — we don't sell off-the-shelf sizes, and we don't ask you to hang them yourself.
Our decorators come to you anywhere across Sydney, bring the fabric books to your living room, and quote on the spot in the light your curtains will actually hang in. It's free, and there's no obligation to proceed.
How it works
- Book a free measure and quote. Choose a time that suits you, including Saturdays.
- We visit your home. Our decorator measures every window, shows you fabrics against your walls and floors, and advises on headings, linings and hardware.
- We make your curtains. Cut, sewn and finished to your measurements.
- We install them. Our own installers hang everything and take the packaging away.
Curtain styles we make
Sheer curtains for softened daylight and privacy without darkness. Blockout curtains for bedrooms, media rooms and west-facing windows. Linen and textured weaves for a relaxed finish, and formal drapes where a room calls for weight and drama. Many Sydney homes use sheers and blockouts together on a double track — light through the day, complete darkness at night.
We make every heading style, including pencil pleat, single, double and triple pinch pleat, inverted box pleat, S-Wave and S-Fold, euro pleat and eyelet. If you're not sure which suits your room, that's exactly what the in-home appointment is for.
Fabrics
We hold one of Sydney's largest curtain fabric ranges, including Warwick, Zepel, James Dunlop, Casamance, Wortley and Laura Ashley. Because we're a fabric business as well as a curtain maker, you're choosing from hundreds of options rather than a handful of samples.
Motorisation
Curtains can be motorised on Silent Gliss or Somfy systems, operated by remote, wall switch, app or voice. Particularly worth considering for tall windows, stairwells and anywhere a track is hard to reach.

Our decorators travel across Sydney from our Chatswood showroom, including Willoughby, Lane Cove, Artarmon, Roseville, Gordon, Pymble, Wahroonga, Hornsby, Mosman, Cremorne, Neutral Bay, North Sydney, Manly, Balgowlah, Dee Why, Forestville, Belrose, Ryde, Epping, Hunters Hill, Drummoyne, Woollahra, Paddington, Randwick and Strathfield. We also have a showroom in Orange, NSW, open by appointment for Central West customers.

If you'd rather start by seeing and feeling the fabrics, our Chatswood showroom is open six days a week. You're welcome to browse without an appointment, and you can take samples home to check against your own light.
